Born between two lands, with deep roots, in one world of rhythms, where the ancestors sleep. Roots in one culture, yet living in another, A child of both, caught unaware.
Growing up, I was taught to blend in and silence the fire within. The pressure to conform left me feeling too much for either world, too much for either world, not fully one, not fully the other.
But what happens when the pressure to fit in becomes too much? When the silence you were taught to keep start to suffocate you? Mental health is not a sign of weakness. It’s a crucial part of our well-being, just as vital as physical health. Ignoring it doesn’t make the struggle disappear
It only makes it louder.
As a nurse, I have seen lives unravel because someone was too afraid to speak up. Your mental health matters. Your voice matters. And seeking help is a sign of strength, not failure.
Courage to Care. Power to Heal. From Denial to Hope.
So, if you feel caught between cultures or caught in silence, remember: You don’t have to choose one identity over the other. You can be both. You can seek help. You can own your truth. Speak up. Seek help. It could save a life.
"For I know the plans I have for you,"
declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." – Jeremiah 29:11
